During my recent stay at Ryokan Mikasaya in Kannawa, I experienced a blend of simplicity and comfort that felt both luxurious and accessible. Situated in a charming onsen town, the ryokan offers three types of baths, including an open-air option that you can access anytime-without needing reservations, which is a major plus. The wellness bath amenities provided an ideal space to unwind after long days of exploring the area. The traditional Japanese room was comfortable, equipped with free Wi-Fi and a shared kitchen that allowed us to cook when we wanted a taste of home. It's worth noting that despite sharing a bathroom down the hall, it was always free when we needed it, adding to the value overall. Parking was easy, and we had no trouble storing our luggage. The owner, a gracious host, provided insights into local history and culture that truly enriched our stay. While the ryokan's price point is slightly above budget stays, the unique experience and access to the beauty of Beppu's hot springs make it a wise choice for travelers seeking authenticity over modernity. Definitely consider Mikasaya if you're looking for a blend of tradition and value!
